Title: Moved VM to another host and SEF doesn't work
Post by: naoko15 on January 22, 2014, 14:04:52 PM
Hello, i cloned my VM shop and installed it in another server (Godaddy) with Akeeba, so i can turn them into two different shops with different products.

My problem is that with 'Search Engine Friendly URLs' and 'Use URL rewriting' turned on, i get 404 error pages in this new VM shop in every page except home page. When i turn them off the website works ok.

I changed htaccess.txt to .htaccess with no luck.

Help please, i run out of ideas!

I am running J2.5 and VM 2.0.20b

Well, here in the forum GoDaddy is nicknamed NoGoDaddy, because users very often have problems getting their website to work with this hoster's non-standard server configurations. However, maybe this helps: http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/7612/rewriting-htaccess-files-for-sef-urls-in-joomla
Also, I've seen some reports saying that it may take half an hour or more before their server reflects a change in the .htaccess file.
