Hi I am having a problem with the images displaying for the Product Categories and the Manufactures Categories. I seem to have no problem with the images loading up and displaying for the products and for the Manufactures. I have seen similar things mentioned when doing a google search but nothing I have found has seemed to relate to my problem. Your help would be much appreciated.

No the don,t they seem to load without any problem as the image's do for the products or the manufactures but only the name of the image is displayed. When you click on the name of the image the error message attached appears.

The images are in jpg format with filenames in the format myimage.jpg? The directory images/stories/virtuemart/category/ is precent on the server and writable (755)? Check if the images are in that directory. The thumb should be in /images/stories/virtuemart/category/resized/
Yes the directory is there with the correct permissions see attached screen shot. The images are in .jpg with no spaces see screen shot. and the thumbnails are in the resized directory all renamed with the 90*90 after them. Is it possible that it is something more simple. Did I corrupt the index by deleting some of the sample images. Is their a way to reset the index? Reload the default without affecting what I have in there?

In tools you could try "Reset Thumbs" to see if that corrects the issue, or even "Install or if necessary update tables " (test these on a backup copy of your site)
Thank you for all your help and tips. I tried them all and I still had the problem. It was stange I could open the link in new window and the image would appear I could click on the type in the media section of the shop and the image would appear but if I tried to use the view image I would get an error message. I then started to look at the image properties and noticed the difference between the image that were showing and the ones that wernt was the first part of the URL. I tried messing with the URL in the Product Category section. This worked to get the image to display here but still no image on the front end.
Then I found it!
As normal human error and as normal with computers it only takes one keystroke. The problem was in the configuration settings somehow I had managed to put a / in front of the defaults of the category line
