Title: Control panel is gone
Post by: Th.Pilegaard on January 24, 2013, 16:40:47 PM
This confuses me:

When upgrading from joomla 1.5 to 2.5 with jupgrade and migrating to VM 2.5 the Virtuemart Control Panel don't show up. If I click statistics this is blank too. If I then click Control Panel the Control Panel is shown and if I click Statistics again the statistics is shown.

If I leave the Control Panel and returns it is gone again.

This only happens when working on an migrated site. I have tried VM 2.0.14 - 2.0.16 and 2.0.18a

I have made a lot of installs from scratch and never seen it in these installations.

Anybody have an idea what I do wrong when migrating ?  (i followed this guide http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=98485.0 (http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=98485.0)

The only time I had an issue migrating a site from J1,5 to 2.5 was when I was using Jupgrade. I repeated that site with SP Upgrade with no problems, so I used that for my other migrations. Not a chache error is it?

No, I don't think it could be a cache error. It seem very consequent.

If I migrate my own site there is no control panel.

If I make a new Joomla 1.5.26 installation with demo data and a VM 1.1.9 installation with demodata, there is no problem.

I have tried to strip my old site for every non joomla components, modules and plugins. Migrate it and install VM - same problem

There must be something in my old installation that is causing this error.

If I installs VM 2.0.2 on the newly migrated site  the control panel is shown as expected, but when I upgrade to 2.0.18a (or 2.0.14) the panel is missing again

I also have this exact issue after an upgrade with jupgrade.

Empty control panel and stats, click stats, click control panel and it comes back.

Not a big issue but the client finds it confusing, and I'd like to fix it.

Would anyone know where to look to fix such an issue.?

Resolution on this - After the upgrade you will get the blank config and statistics screens, however click stats and back to config and it will come good. Once you've saved any config changes the screen will always show.

I wouldn't be so quick as to blame spupgrade or jupgrade. I paid for the vm migrator and spupgrade, but used vm migrator for the migration form 1.5 to 2.5 and this same thing still happened to me. Thankfully, your suggestion worked for me. I'd just like to know why.. It was showing fine for a couple of days after the migration, but then presto all of a sudden the whole page except for the navigation bar on the left was blank - nada.
