Post by: robertosalemi on September 21, 2012, 17:08:25 PM
Hi, you can import products virtuemart virtuemart 1.1.2 to 2.0 or 1.1.9?

There is a procedure to follow?
There is a module / plugin that transaction?

Thank you!

Hello,

You should migrate to v2.0.10

http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/wiki/Upgrading_VM1_to_VM2_with_provided_packages
http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=95236.0
http://www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/virtuemart-11-to-version-2/

or use any tools like csv improved

i am not sure about version 1 of Virtuemart but i think your can upgrade from 113 to 119 but only with joomla 1.5.x. Mention that joomla 1.5.x is in end of life, so there will be no support and also will be exposed to serious security risks.

Regards

Thank you.
I upgraded via the package Patch-VirtueMart-1.1.2-1.1.9.j15.zip.
But I should also update the database? How?
Where can I find the files?
Within the package, there are several files. Sql
- virtuemart.installation.joomla.sql
- UPDATE-SCRIPT_VirtueMart_1.1.7-to-VirtueMart_1.1.8.sql
- UPDATE-SCRIPT_VirtueMart_1.1.6-to-VirtueMart_1.1.7.sql
- UPDATE-SCRIPT_VirtueMart_1.1.5-to-VirtueMart_1.1.6.sql
- UPDATE-SCRIPT_VirtueMart_1.1.4-to-VirtueMart_1.1.5.sql
- UPDATE-SCRIPT_VirtueMart_1.1.3-to-VirtueMart_1.1.4.sql
- sql.virtuemart.php
- Sql.update.VM-1.0.x_to_VM-1.1.0.php
- sql.sampledata.php

Which one should I choose?

Before migation to VirtueMart 2 there is no requirement to run the sql updates. They do not affect product data.

You can now follow the migration to VM2 and Joomla 2.5 by whatever method suits you, working on a backup copy of the current site.

The Joomla 1.5.26/VM1.1.9 site will be OK for the moment, as thus far there are known security issues with those versions.

First you should update your old VM 1.1.2 to VM 1.1.9 using the file "Patch-VirtueMart-1.1.2-1.1.9.j15.zip" from this page:
http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/files (http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/files)
Update instructions for this are certainly in the VM 1.1.x section of this forum.

Most tables will be migrated by the VM2 Migrator. But make shure you that you try with a copy of your database first (if you are working with PCs, I would recommend to install xampp on your PC and install Joomla and VM1.1.9 with your database copy on it) in case something goes wrong. And read the instructions carefully. Exporting and importing database tables is pretty easy if you use phpMyadmin or i.e. HeidiSQL.
