Title: Filter Products by category and manufacturer in products module

i need to show the products in a category filtered by manufacturer in a module position, the products module only comes with the option to filter by category, if anybody has any idea how to modify the module to also filter by manufacturer it would be really awesome.

this is what i need to show in a module:
category1
-manufacturer-a
--product
--product
-manufacturer-b
--product
--product

category2
-manufacturer-a
--product
--product
-manufacturer-b
--product
--product

Tried as suggested but does not seem to work  :(
