Is there any module to display other products under the same category of a current product?

Hi,
There is the module called Virtuemart Products, which you can use to display products from selected categories. Your "current product", by the way, can belong in more than one category, as you know.
There is another way to show "related products" right in the product detail view.
Enter the product in the back end, find the "Custom Fields" tab. Here you can add related products (and categories) to the product.

But should i do that per product?? Then it will take too much time for a simple (I thought it's simple) module.
I've worked on the module "virtuemart products" to be able to show same products on category, however i got error on the layout when the shop displays the sub categories. It should be disabled in the category and categories pages. How can I disabled module to show on category/categories page??
