Title: integrating ups freight calculator of America in virtuemart
Post by: pandumaya on May 07, 2011, 15:47:21 PM
Hi,

First, thanks to the supporting members.

   Here is my question?

I need to know is this: Is there a way to tie into a ups freight calculator – as they do when you buy on-line? This way

we have either option of postal or ups. I know there are other carriers with Virtuemart.  we may need API access from UPS.

   Thanks in advance

The standard Virtuemart installation includes the UPS1.0 shipping module which uses the UPS API to return dynamic shipping costs during checkout.

However, there are some limitations.  Namely:
1.  No support for dimensional weights.
2.  Assumes that each store item ships in its own box.

So if you ship really big things or really small things, then it falls apart.

If you spend any time at all searching this forum, then you will find UPS2.0.  But it offers functionality that goes beyond the specifications of a Virtuemart shipping module.  So as a result, it is actually a hack and not a real module.  :'(

pandumaya, you cannot connect with the "freight calculator"

I got reggie at http://www.lowmips.com/joomla/

To make me a shipping module to where I can set many levels of "price per pound" for weight ranges. Or a flat fee.

Most of my stuff ships freight
