Jeff

I have fresh install of Joomla 1.5.23 with VM2 RC2 (1.9.8c)

I am trying to upload an image for a category and it is not showing on the front end but I can see it in Admin.

Any ideas?

Same here...

In my case I have a fresh install of Joomla 1.7 with VM2 "virtuemart1-1.9.8.RC2c_extract_first".

EDIT - And if I click the link I got a "404 - Category not found" - am I missing something? - EDIT - Self answered - disabled SEF

During Joomla's installation, the system check complies with all the requirements.

I can post my hosting php, sql etc info if needed.

Regards.

@Jeff
Looks like your image path is wrong. I suppose this is a problem with VM2 RC2 (1.9.8c) when it creates the database tables during installation. I had the same problem with this version and replacing it with the latest SVN version (which doesn't have this problem) didn't solve the problem. But importing the database created from a new VM2 SVN installation yesterday, solved it. So I think this problem will disappear with the next update.

The path

should look similar to this:
/fclift.com/images/stories/virtuemart/category/your-category-image.jpg

However, you can try to check your path settings and click on "Sync Media to Virtuemart" on the VM2 Tools - Update/Migration tab.

The relative paths should work so just /images/stories/virtuemart/category/your-category-image.jpg

Jeff

I tried the SYNC method and it told me it synced 12 files (3 in the category folder) which sounded correct but it made no difference on the front end. This is quite frustrating.

Please disable your SEF and then lets see again.

Still no luck. I turned off SEO in VM and J and then and migrated media files again. Cleared browser cache and such and still have no luck

I am not really sure what I should do at this point. I guess I am the only one this is happening to? I put a post on Facebook as well.

Likewise. I greatly appreciate your guidance. VM2 will do very well.

what is the solution?
I am trying VirtueMart Categories Layout but the category thumbnails do not show. It shows the list of categories but a "Product Image unavailable" image as the thumbnail.

joomla 1.7
virtuemart  1.9.8c
