Title: Edit button for registered users? How to remove
Post by: peaceandlove on February 14, 2015, 18:16:54 PM
See our site

Joomla 3.3.6 and virtumart 3 both are latest versions.

https://www.beddinghotline.com/beddinghotline

Now, either register at site and login or just use this one

user: peaceandlove
pass: star2000

Then goto any product page details, you can see an edit button at top clicking which will take you to virtumat. page (like backend)

why such strange behaviour? how to solve, that edit button must be for admin only not register user?

Seems you have a misconfigured ACL, you enabled frontend editing for any registered user. This is a misconfiguration, not a bug of vm.

What you could do is right click on it, select "inspect element", check what CSS class or ID the icon has and do a "display:none" on it.

No, that is no solution. Anyone can still edit the products. No, he should just look, which rights he misconfigured. This is not a default behaviour

It'll be a tick box in Virtuemart's config. Maybe in the permissions section.

NO.  ACL is set in Joomla's Global configuration/Permissions tab.

Do you want to stop anyone editing in the front end - if so just do a template override and remove this link

I get concerned when someone with over two years forum membership and well over a hundred posts claims not to understand even the basics. It appears that you are relying on the goodwill of others to freely assist you to develop websites (there are more than one that you have asked for help with) and to provide solutions to all the problems you cannot work out. If you seriously don't have the knowledge then consider hiring a developer who does.

At the very least you should have gained enough experience to now offer support to other users with problems?

Well, boss

I still truley speaking did not learn overides and codes.

Yes, i do learn how to do changes in colors using css etc but still not able to learn how to overide.

I know how to overide languages but not what i stuck in.

This is my fithth site in Virtumart, so still had to gain lot of experience in virtumart, i mostly gain experience in Joomla

I am not a lasy man for not doing work, you can see i developed the whole site ofcourse it take my days to do that so why i am lasy so do just on removal of icon from front page. that might take few minutes, and still waiting for days for some to help me.

The only reason is I am stuck ,

Hope you bear with me and tell me how and where did i had to overidie it.

Thanks

Instead of overriding it you should find out why it shows. There has to be a configuration problem or a bad template.

You can set permissions in Joomla's global configuration in 2.5 which I've got. Is it there in Joomla 3?
