Title: empty cart
Post by: marvays on April 04, 2020, 07:13:31 AM
Please help me.
For some reason, at one shop constantly angry cart. Sometimes all items disappear from the cart. Other times, only some will disappear. I have caching turned off. But that didn't help.
The only thing I can think of is that I have an old version of VM. . . specifically VirtueMart 3.4.2

customers write for example:
I put the goods into the basket, then I do something else and when I want to return to it the basket is empty and I have to start new. For other sites, your cart will remain saved even if I turn off my computer and can return to it at any time.

It sounds like conflict with www.sitename and sitename without www. Do You have a good .htaccess redirect to either sitename or www.sitename ? Opening sessions, cart is stored in session, with different URL gives different sessions and next visit to the site shows an empty basket.

Without sef? You thing without sh404sef, or disable all sef?
Can there be a problem with the cart extension side? I use Rupostel. I am considering buying VP One Page Checkout.

So you tell us that you use a third party cart plugin.

Please seek advice directly from the developer of the plugin - he is very helpful and should be able to guide you.

I don't think so Martin.
We use Rupostel too and as I sad on joomlaportal.cz - we have the same eshop with VM 3.4.2 and Rupostel OPC and PHP version and non-caching and SEF app and we haven't any problem with minicart or cart.
Change to VP One Page Checkout is not right way :)

Okay. But today the problem again. The customer calls that he cannot put more items into the cart than save products. I immediately try it and I have no problem.

I'm doing desperate experiments. Removing AddThis. I'm considering installing JQeasy. I'm considering making a template again (maybe I got a mistake there).

But I'm sure to cancel SH404Sef and use Artion JomSef.

why turn off one plugin only to replace it with another - just go to a minimal plugin setup and work your way up from there

I don't have any unnecessary plugins on my site. In addition, I have several similar sites. I use the same extension. But the problem is only here.

But I have an outdated "Custom Filter from Breakdesign", can not cause problems he?

Custum filter uses Mootools, this mixed with Jquery is Always a liability

Can you write a little exactly what you suggested? I guess I misunderstood you.

Even if turns out that this isn´t the problem, You should fix it. Instructions are on your screen dump.

why not use the standard Safe Path Active  /disk_1/www/cz/lukysipy/vmfiles ?

they are there and writable

the other is just there for info if u CAN'T use the path above the root

Because Martin does not know and know VirtueMart and is not a programmer.
He usually gains his knowledge by asking questions on the forum (the answers are not always correct to solve his problems).

In a few years (if he will program and constantly create e-shops), he will surely be an expert who will not make these mistakes (but if he persists with virtuemart or virtuemart exists).

We'll see :)

Doesn't it matter? VM says I create a folder off the web or with a random name. I had a random folder name that nobody guesses.
Now I set up a folder off the website, but I still scream a red error in the administration! VM itself does not know what it wants!

Hello marways

I seem to have lead you into error. Lokking at your first screenshot it sais that everything is ok. Ther is a small beauty flaw, VM complains that the safe path with "password" does not exist, but it also shows that the "hidden" safe path is active and OK. I suggest to get back to the safe path arrangement above public area, which is usually better. So it turnes out that safe path was not a problem.

Sorry to have missed this.

So . . .  / disk_1 / www / com / lukysipy / www / administrator / components / com_virtuemart / SE61S3UnildojcjH282ET / is a better choice?

Title: Re: empty cart
Post by: Jörgen on April 10, 2020, 09:32:52 AM
Using a path above the public area makes it very hard if not impossible to reach with ftp och normal googling. Would only be accessible through an active VM install.

This looks like a "standard" url and not the first choice or do I see this wrong, I suggest use the first alternative under safe path tools.

QuoteFor safety reasons it is very important to create a folder in a path not accessible by an URL

I now the view is kind of confusing.

I guess I don't understand. Or wrong translation :(
Which way is right? Generated random folder in /www. Or the classic "/vmfiles" before the public www folder?
Title: Re: empty cart
Post by: GJC Web Design on April 10, 2020, 11:52:12 AM
neither way is "right"  -- both are valid

but if classic "/vmfiles" before the public www folder is possible .. some servers don't allow but 90+% do  - use it
