I don't know if there is already a way to do this, or a component available to create an order for a customer.

the specifics that we are looking for is that, we have members of our team answering phone calls and importing orders, is there a place that we can give them access to virtuemart, so that they could input the orders as they come in?

if anyone could help, that would be great.

thanks,
Jim

I've worked with a modification called "Add Order" which allows you to do just that.  You would be able to input orders and even register new users from the back end administrator control panel.

I suggest doing a search for this "Add Order" mod.

Very interesting! What is the roadmap available/compatible for VM2? I have written a "small" specifications list (See below) Is this doable with this extension? Or could it be customised by you to do it?

Best reguars,

Create an order (CAO)- Extension or Feature for VM2.

Description & background:
An extension for VM2 that enables the creation of an order for a customer from backend.

I do repairs of different sorts. In other words, one of my products is not an item, but a service. What I would like to achieve in this
extension for VM2 is the ability to use VM2 to get paid for these services, and also in this way introduce the customer to my other
"physical" products in my VM2-shop. The customer that (maybe..) otherwise likely would not be exposed to my webshop will in this way
be made aware that my other products exist, and the means of shopping for them in my shop will allready be very easy and familiar from
the first to second visit and beyond since all they will have to do in the future is log in shop and check out.
This would also be a good way of introducing call-in (by phone) customers or customers that you meet "on the street" They simply will recieve an
email informing them that their order is ready for check-out with their supplied log-in information.

Admin-Features:

a) Create an order from existing products in the shop.

b) associate a customer to the created order.

c) If the customer-user does not exist. Create customer by filling in at least Name, email and phone number.

d) send a "your order at 'my-webshop' is ready for checkout. Click here to log in and check it out. with supplied username and password."

e) A check box for giving (or not giving) the customer free shipping.

f) Before check out. A nice message that reads: "Would you like something else from our shop before you check out"
   - perhaps some thumbnails of featured products.
   - gives the customer a taste for the option to "continue shopping.."

g) Autoreminder: able to set how often to remind a customer with email that they have an order ready for them to check out.

Questions:
Since my repair-service is never "out of stock" I don't know if it is possible to include this as a buyable product in VM2?
   - At the same time as I want this service as a choosable product in the "create an order" I dont want it to show up with my other
products in the shop. I also want to be able to fill in the cost of the service at the time of "create an order"

#5
does everything except the cart where the customer personally logs in makes payment

this is based on mail order manager

the clerk who takes the order actually can
1) save order to be processed later by external cc machine
2) save or to purchase order
3) pay by check, hold order
4) take cc information over phone and complete order

your way was never considered as the customer can place order as purchase order in frontend as part of normal vm operation

it can be customized to do this, but you would have to pay for the customization, in three years no one ver asked for your version, so i do not think what you want has a ROI for my investment.

will not be done for VM 2 until VM 2 is released, and stable.

current version works through 1.1.9
