I have just made a website with Virtue Mart and I have made a categories menu in the left side, but now I see the categories menu in the left side and also in the main content section of the home page. How can I hide this content?

To stop categories showing on the home page you should select "Show categories" on the Virtuemart category view settings tab of the Joomla menu homepage item.
