New Complete Virtuemart Theme - VP Eden

VirtuePlanet releases first ever Virtuemart 2.0 theme under VirtuPlanet Club. The theme handling method in Virtuemart 2.0 is completely different from its earlier version Virtuemart 1.1.x. We took long time before publishing our first theme for VM2 because of quite a few reasons. Virtuemart 2 is still very new and the developer team is very busy to fix all the bugs. They have also made quote a few changes in the theme/layout workflow to make it more full proof. We waited till the time they published a good stable version.

With the launch of VP Eden Virtueplanet becomes the first ever theme club for Virtuemart. We have been designing Virtuemart themes since 2009 and selling them on VMJunction.com. Many times in past our customer had shown their intension to switch between other themes apart from which they purchased. They also showed their desired to use the purchased product in future for other domain without any license restrictions. Therefore we have come with this solution and we believe you will certainly appreciate this effort.

VP Eden is a modern looking cart theme which comes with much new flexibilities. It is very lightweight theme and you may find some similarities with some of our previous Virtuemart 1.1.x themes. The image slideshow on Product Details Page is complete built in feature of VP Eden. You do not need to install any other plugin or module for the same. The image cart attribute functionality also has been designed very carefully which is also special feature of Virtuemart 2.0. Product description, customer review and related products are shown under the tabs along with all the custom fields (non-cart) which will automatically create a tab without any intervention.

The theme is well tested on Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 1.7 environment.

NOTICE: Make sure the theme will work with your VM version!

The VP Eden Theme worked with VM 2.0.2 & 2.0.4, but does not work for VM 2.0.6.  I signed up for a month, downloaded and installed the theme, but since VM is in such a state of flux, I've had to upgrade VM twice since 2.0.2 to make things work right, so now, the theme doesn't work. A real waste of money unless I want to pay another $39.  I tried to get support about the issue prior to the expiration of my membership, but it went ignored, guess they were waiting... perhaps so I'd renew the membership to get an answer. It was good while it worked, a whopping week!! If you have the newer versions of VM, you may want to wait before subscribing to this theme.  They have not yet addressed the issue nor answered any of my emails about it. I'll probably go elsewhere and consider this one a loss :-(

Update: Got this theme/view working but took some time to figure out. The php files supplied were missing a few lines.

They had this line:

$document->addStyleSheet($this->baseurl."/components/com_virtuemart/assets/css/vp_eden_product_page.css");

But were missing these lines:

$document->addScript($this->baseurl."/components/com_virtuemart/assets/js/vp_tabcontent.js");
$document->addScript($this->baseurl."/components/com_virtuemart/assets/js/pikachoose/jquery.pikachoose.js");
$document->addStyleSheet($this->baseurl."/components/com_virtuemart/assets/css/pikachoose/pikachoose.css");
$document->addScript($this->baseurl."/components/com_virtuemart/assets/js/fancybox/jquery.fancybox-1.3.4.js");
$document->addStyleSheet($this->baseurl."/components/com_virtuemart/assets/js/fancybox/jquery.fancybox-1.3.4.css");

Replaced them, and voila!  If this does not work for you, try renaming the vp_eden files to "default".  I'm not a pro, but this worked for us!

The theme has been updated on 18-Apr-2012 which works perfectly with Virtuemart 2.0.6. The latest version of the theme is 1.4.
