Cannot enter price in VM2

I installed VM 2.0 in Joomla 1.7.3. All went flawlessly until I tried to enter a product price. For some reason I cannot enter a price for the product. I have looked every place I can think of and  still cannot enter a price into VM product set up. A store is not much good without prices......
Any help is appreciated.
