Tax I Configuration Issues

Greetings,

I noticed when I test run my online store, I have a product that I'm charging $25.00 for however, when I got to check out, it says $40.00 and when I see the additional cost, it falls under Tax ($15.00). Can someone tell me where this figure is coming from. When I go under the Tax tab in the control panel of virtuemart , I don't even have a setting there....
