This is the pre release though.  When i installed it, it said there is a newer version available.  I let it update and still same problem.

As reported elsewhere, the version updater in the first release of 2.0.1 actually installs the earlier 2.0 version, so of course you would see no difference.

After now more than 30 different installations of VM2.0 and 2.0.1 since first release I have never seen an issue with Vendor entry or currency, and the increasing number of live VM2 sites shows that by no means everybody is having problems. There have now been nearly 140,000 downloads of VM2, and what we don't understand is why a few people seem to have problems with their installations, and why some members have problems on one server but not on another.

Godaddy hosting account

That's one of those cheaper hosts assocated with some issues. Seems they may have many different server setups, possibly different in the way PHP is compiled/set up, eg this fix was required  http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=86615.0

Some work OK with Joomla/VM and others do not. More issues being reported on the Joomla forum. eg http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p=2727495#p2727495 and  http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=615&t=690988&p=2729778&hilit=godaddy#p2729778
