I have a lot of products imported into vm persistence.
Product images accessible via remote url e.g. http://content.etilize.com/Thumbnail/1013019630.jpg
If I try to save this url into #__virtuemart_medias.file_url then vm shop shows an error

vmError: Couldnt create thumb, file not found...

Can vm2 work with external urls or it requires images from server's file system?
Do I have any chance to force vm generte thumb using url?

Stannite

is there anybody that could answer to this? i am having the same problem...

Some additional info:

i am using virtuemart 2.0.6 / joomla 2.5.4.

what it does is the following: i have a url for the image and an url for the thumbnail. but when in the frontend it adds the path to the shop in front of the url to the thumbnail like this: http://ip-address/shop/http://www.thumbnail-site/filename.jpeg

I really hope someone could help

Virtuemart can not auto generate thumbnail images when you are using an external link for the main image.

Stannite

I know that, i am putting my products directly in the database. I put the url for the thumbnail in the field file_url_thumb in the medias table.

Jumbo!

Check the thumbnail image url in your database import. Is it correct?

Stannite

The url is correct, the problem is that virtuemart puts the url to my website in front of the url to the thumbnail.

Stannite

One other thing,

when i look at the product in the backend, the url for the thumbnail is replaced with 0. this happens every time i go to the product in the backend.

any help please?

saman6709  you have posted the same message in 3 different threads. What exactly is the problem that you have?

And as we are no good at guessing games please tell us which VM/J versions you use?  http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=79799.0
