Greetings!  OK I quit (not really)

I'm new to VM but figured it out enough to get me going...I want to add the VM-Featured Products to my home page but it will not show up.

When I go to the module page (or ANY of the VM modules) I see in red "Module XML data not available"

I assume this is why its not showing but I can not figure out how to fix this problem...

Installation of AIO results in MANY errors (examples below)

I am running:
Joomla! 1.7.2 Stable [ Ember ] 17-Oct-2011 14:00 GMT
virtuemart1.9.8.RC2K

Sampling of errors:

Ah OK - Good start on the folder permission issue - any ideas what folders and what proper setting should be?
