Missing a add to cart button
« on: October 24, 2011, 21:28:59 pm »
Hello, I'm posting this thread to resolve a long standing issue with my company's website.  If this thread topic is in the wrong forum I apologize in advance. I actually do not even know at what forum section this would go.

Website: www.ltnprinting.com
Joomla version: 1.5.20
virtuemart version: 1.1.9 stable

Problem: The website has a menu of items that can purchased. The catalog of items are categorized. When an Item is eventually selected by a user to buy it brings him to this page http://ltnprinting.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=211449&category_id=15&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=105

On that page there should be a button to "add to cart'. From the picture below you can see that its not there. I would like to resolve that. I understand that this might require a bit more information n my part, I just don't know what that information is. So feel free to ask me anything and hopefully I can get some help to resolve this. Thank you.

Your problem is with the css and the image for the cart button is not loading.

.addtocart_button, .addtocart_button_module {
    background: url("../../../components/com_virtuemart/themes/ecommerce_plazza/images/sp_add2cart_mod.gif") no-repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
    border: medium none;
    color: #999999;
    cursor: pointer;
    display: block;
    font-family: inherit;
    font-size: 80%;
    font-weight: bold;
    height: 22px;
    overflow: hidden;
    padding-left: 15px;
    text-align: center;
    text-indent: -5000px;
    text-transform: uppercase;
    vertical-align: middle;
    width: 100px;
}
.addtocart_button:hover, .addtocart_button:focus, .addtocart_button_module:hover, .addtocart_button_module:focus {
    background: url("../../../components/com_virtuemart/themes/ecommerce_plazza/images/sp_add2cart_mod.gif") no-repeat scroll 0 -22px transparent;
}

Hi BanquetTables.pro,

Thanks for replying to my post. Another developer was working on this Joomla webpage before I hopped on board and took over his incomplete projects. I am not at all familiar with Joomla and am therefor lost 90% of the time. However I am very familiar with CSS, but I just need to know, where do I place that code? Do I have to change any parameters in it?

Thanks.

Ok I'm going to try that, but I need to know how do I get to that directory. Copy and pasting over my /administrator url did not work. Whats hindering me the most here is that I am virtually clueless when it comes to Joomla. So the simplest instructions need a set of directions to go with them.

YOU have to use an FTP program. OR download the file in your hosting.

Yes I understand but again I am completely clueless about Joomla, how it works, where stuff is, etc etc.
Again if I am told to do something its only going to raise more questions. Now I have to figure out how to edit that file. Well I've been trying to figure it out for two days now, rather than post about it and still no luck. I used Google etc.

Ok so back to square one, I have some faulty css going on here correct? Ok great, now I have to alter a file or rather download it then alter it then upload it, right? Ok. So where is the file? Giving me a directory wont help BTW, because again, I do not know how to navigate Joomla. Remember, clueless. Right, so Download, edit, upload.. How? Where? step by step would be appreciated. Thank you.

I was able to find a page where my css files are at, unfortunately there are 15 css files to choose from.. The bad thing is that I cannot go into the html to figure it all out like a sane developer. Joomla has this thing about converting it to cryptic php.

have you tried checking the radio button, and then clicking "edit" at the top right of the screen?

On the CSS files? Right, but which one? That is the question.

There are many (#15). Which one is the right one. I am told that most of the files are erroneous and are no longer refrenced. How do I find out which one to edit? Usually what i would do is go into the html index and see whats being refrenced by the link tag, but thats not possible in Joomla. There is no index.html, only a index(template).php..

Ok I just edited the css through firebug for a live result. I correct path to an image for background, however that did not work. Funny thing is, there is no such element with the id addtocart_button. It does not exist in the html. I have the show add to cart option enabled in my joomla back end. So why is there css tied to page elements that do not exist?

The file is not there. You need to upload the add to cart image to that folder

ALSO; what is weird is that url path uses the theme "ecommerce_plazza"

BUT in your administrator you have chosen "default" theme

Sure.. Where can I get the image file?

I tried Googling, searching the forum, searching the virtuemart site. Nothing.
