PayPal Payment Method Script

I have been hunting around for a couple of hours pulling my hair out looking for the definitive PayPal script for VirtueMart 1.1.9.  I have tried a range of scripts and configurations, but none yet accurately list the figures on the PayPal payment page.

Is there a PayPal script that 1) accurately itemises the cart selections, 2) shows the correct coupon discount, and 3) adds shipping costs? 

This seems like a really basic question...   

I don't really understand why there would not be a single standard script for this, but if you can point me to the script, I would be most grateful.

Yes please, I'm looking for the same thing.
Paypal (new_API) is not working well and nobody seems to have the exact solution.
Paypal (legacy) is working except for those point geoffr is mentioning. So please, help to solve those problems and the paypal solution would be perfectly working!
