I noticed the same. I hope this is fixed soon.

In the meantime, install the sample data to avoid this bug.

First: I'm sorry for replying to this old thread

I did a fresh install of Joomla 1.7.3 & VM 2 RC3 Pre M

This old issue still occurs:
The shop currency settings and the shop information cannot be stored.

After pressing the save button, the following conflicting message shows up:

        Info: User data stored
        Info: Vendor data stored

vmError: TableVendors The given Vendor name is empty. This field is obligatory, please enter your data and store again.
        vmError: store vendor
No Shop Currency defined! Go to http://127.0.0.1:8888/virtuemart/administrator/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=user&task=editshop

This error only disappears by installing the sample data.

It is now April 2012, and the problem is still occurring.  I played around with it for ages and eventually have come up with a slightly different error message and am now stuck with Afgahan currency.  Hopefully someone sorts it soon.

First:
This "I get that error :
No Shop Currency defined! Go to http://..../administrator/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=user&task=editshop"

Is NOT an error. When your car is blinking and tellling you that you have to go to the filling station, you would call it an error? I doubt so. Same here. You must choose a shop currency.

Read the messages what they say

This is really a clear thing. "The given Vendor name is empty. This field is obligatory, please enter your data and store again."

So enter your NAME, man. Then choose a currency and store it, done. So then tell me, which error is left?

hi there - I have tried this many times on different browsers and it does not save and the notification comes up "No shop currency defined" and all the forms and blanked out.  And I have noticed on the forum that there are other people with this problem.  Once you enter a currency it asks to fill out the required fields in the additional information, when you do the required fields that are in red, once you fill them in they stop being red, hit save it goes back to the VM control panel screen and the notification comes up "vmError: Please enter your name."

I think there is something legitimate with what people say as it would be strange to have the form blank and return to control panel even on "apply"  do you think it has something to do with write permissions?

karangi

Hi, I think I found the solution, if you go to
YOURSITE/administrator/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=user&task=editshop
then edit the currency. That should work, atleast it worked for me.

mishi

I have tried this 50 times and I can not get it to work either. I have gone through and filled out every tab, all of the fields, required or not and it still gives me two errors...which I believe to be incorrect.

They are the following:
vmError: User name in use
No Shop Currency defined!

Username- there is only one username to fill out and I have used crazy instances to make sure it is not in use.
Currency- I have assigned multiple and listed others as well in all combinations.

It will not save, it will not update...and I can't use it.  Please help!

I have got this problem. Fortunately, I can save vendor information now.
You should enter value into both "Shop Name" and "Shop Company Name" field.
Don't forget choose "Currency" and specify a accepted currency in "List of accepted currencies".

SamTzu

Excellent idea (sarcasm) now if we only had a "Save" button on the (nearly empty) page.
I cant believe that even on version 2.0.10 this same upgrade bug still exists.
I have tried this with default [en] settings and same result.
I have followed Milbo's upgrade quide to the letter and still this bug persists on all upgrades.
Every time I have to manually dig in the DB.

Some tips to avoid this...
Make sure that the default admin user is enabled and belongs to the Super User group.
Good luck if you have at some point deleted that user.
Make sure that Virtuemart Shopper list shows only 1 admin / (Super Administrator) and that it is the default admin.
If clicking that user shows your Shop settings like below, then good luck fixing it.
Who came up with the brilliant idea of forcing the integration of the Vendor information with the Shop Admin info?

Tomppa

I struggled with this too until I choose Country from Additional Information ::)
The currency was accepted right after this.

Milbo

Hmm Tomppa. Your type of solutions sounds for me correctly. Samtzu, I am really sorry about your problem, but I am very, very sure that less than 1% of this problem. When I look on your screenshot your installation seems be completly broken. It looks like there is a fatal error and the page is not correctly loaded. VM2 has a nice looking backend with a akkordeon menu on the left. So please switch on showing errors and then we may find the problem with your installation.
