please,

spanish translation virtuemart 2 for joomla 1.6

jjk

Virtuemart 2 works on Joomla 1.7, but not on 1.6.x. Until now I'm not aware of somebody working on a spanish translation. We need volunteers!  :)

I have made translation of:

es-ES.com_virtuemart.ini
es-ES.com_virtuemart.sef.ini
es-ES.com_virtuemart.sys.ini

but I had a problem during instalation, the component put the files where designed but do not read ot, maybe a codification issue??

If you are using Joomla 1.7.x you need to install the spanish Joomla translation and make it default language (or use the multilanguage features) in order to see your spanish translation. If that doesn't work, create a zip file of your translation and post it here, so I can have a look at the files.

I'm using spanish translation of Joomla 1.7
And using SPANISH as active language

This is the link to donwload the files (ini and xml)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RMK2F6E9

I installed the component with the edited XML , and the files were copied into the right path but it does'n read it. I change en-GB files for the spanish translation files but didn't work... Files edited with Notepad ++ in UTF-8 no Boom and ANSI
(I wanted to install it to review the files and chech translation problems and consistence)

Thanks for the help

I just looked in the JED and the spanish translation for Joomla 1.7.2 still isn't included there. I suppose you have these Joomla language files installed: http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/jtranslation1_6/frs/?action=FrsReleaseBrowse&frs_package_id=5597.

However, your xml file looks like the paths are set for Joomla 1.5.x. Make shure your files are in the language folders as listed in the example below.

A correct xml J1.7.2 installer file for a complete set of VM2 language files should look like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<extension type="file" version="1.7" method="upgrade">

I din't use a languaje installer.
I edited the Virtuemart componet installer for adding the languaje to normal instalation.
The installation put the files in the proper place but even if I have Spanish as joomla default language, virtuemart loads in English.

For testing purposes I tryed to replace the en-GB language files for the Spanish version (renaming files) But it does not read the files, showing the variables names insted of trasnlated text.

Example:
It show: COM_VIRTUEMART_ASK_SUBMIT
Instead of: Envie su pregunta

I'm now working in administration languages.

jjk

You have an error in line 495 of com_virtuemart.ini - a missing quote.
COM_VIRTUEMART_USER_DATA_STORED="Datos de usuario almacenados"

This prevents the file from being loaded correctly (Joomla 1.7.x is more picky concerning these small mistakes than Joomla 1.5.x)
