I am not expecting a commercial solution for this, I am expecting virtuemart 2 to be as free as it's previous versions.
If am to buy a plugin for such functionality, I will be one of the first to go to another cart, although I am one of the first to join virtuemart many years ago.
I would not suggest to just go and buy plugins in a rush, I think we just have to wait a little right ?

As far as I understand from Milbo (see one of the previous posts in this thread), there will be a free plugin developed by the VM-team.
As it was available in VM1.

SO, there is no plugin (for free) of downloadable products in VM 2 any more!!!
Only commercial!
That's a pity!
Of course someone's got to get paid for his work (espaecially the VM team), and that is fair.
On the other hand, I've just realised that I need 60 euro for a bank module, and another 35 euro for the downloadables plugin!
That's about 100 euro (130 US dollars) just for those two extensions!!!
VM is getting Commercial (step-by-step)!

$130 for software to run a full functioning eCommerce site? Hell, I'd still be over the moon with that low cost.
We all know they need to make money some how.
At least Virtuemart is used to make your money back.

has the virtuemart team done this really ? while joomla tried to (and did) include more things in core so you don't need extensions ?
if this is true, what I mostly don't like is for so long they hided the fact that it is going to be a commercial plugin and let us wait.

is "free" dying on virtuemart.net ?

Hi, will this extension allow to set a category downloadable? I'm asking because I need to combine this extension to the virtuemart images as products extension and it would be ace to have such an option so that mass upload of photos to sell will be painless once the upload is set to a category where every item belong to it can be downloaded intead of going one by one and set the download..Hope it  is clear enough..Thank You

As far as I have experienced, the payment option with this plugin is pay per product download only, not for a category or group of "products"...

Thans for your reply, save my money then..Problem is that I canno find a decent photo stock extension on order to sell photos online with VM...pity  :-[

You can produce a zip of all photos in a "category" to be a single product to purchase. So each saleable product is a collection of images - you can add numerous images to each product details page, displayed as thumbs with a lightbox to show them in larger format.
