New to 1.1.9, doesn't display empty categories or subcats.  You must apply an Exclamation point ("not") before the final "empty" to line 86 in admin/components/com_virtuemart/html/shop.browser.php, as such:

elseif( $num_rows == 0 && empty($product_type_id) && !empty($child_list)) {

Works for me.

Many thanks for this help.

I have used the ! (Not Empty) code above but now categories that are empty with no child categories display a category page and not the "This category is empty" error message.

What do I need to do to get both to work (the subcategories display if they are present in a category with no products AND the warning if a category/subcategory is actually completely empty)?

Regards, Tony

Works for me! Had the same problem searched everywhere.

But still think that this is a unneeded hack. I mean the categories aren't even empty only the parent category is empty.
My client uses it to further specify a product in types.

Hope with the next upgrade i don't have to fix this again.

Great - thanks myopicseer! Now sub-cat headings are displayed & without a list of their products underneath - just how I want  :)

How can I hide the product column headings (like "image", "price", "descriptions") which are still displaying underneath..?! Any ideas?

Got it! To hide column headings of product listings, comment out around line 29:

Code: [Select]
//$table->addRow( $tableheader, 'class="sectiontableheader"', 'th', true );
File:

Code: [Select]
joomla\components\com_virtuemart\themes\default\templates\browse\includes\browse_listtable.tpl.php

This worked for me too!
Thanks.
But when i add the items to the cart, the catagory description and the product description are gone.
Just the item, attribute lists, articlenumber and price are still there. The rest is gone.
Is there a solution/workaround for this?

Thanks.

Thanks Myopicseer.  I also had this issue when updating to 1.1.9.  Adding a ! to shopbrowse.php worked great.  My client also uses the category tree to help customers narrow down the selection of products to match the website customers needs.
