Generally prevent https connections?
« on: June 02, 2011, 03:04:37 am »
Hi, I am having a little trouble getting out of https connections after checkout is complete.

I have "Generally prevent https connections?" checked and account & admin selected. My Home page link is configured to point to the virtuemart type and I have "Off" selected under "SSL Enabled" in the Menu item parameters.

However after a transaction has been completed if you click a menu item, like Home or Contact, it will stay in https until you click an item or click on "view cart".

What am I missing?

Note: I do not have "user account creation" enabled, customers just fill out thier name & address and proceed through the checkout without creating an account. I am wondering if virtuemart thinks they are still "logged in" or something when they click Home.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Luke

PS I am running VirtueMart 1.1.8 and Joomla 1.5.22 right now.

add this to your joomla config if not present...

var $live_site = 'http://www.YOURWEBSITE.com';

...and check your "security" tab in your VM admin making sure only "checkout" and whatever else you want in SSL is selected.

HI, I too have this problem, but var $live_site = is specified correctly - what else could be causing it?

Putting my site url in the $live_site variable fixed it for me, however it caused problems with having the backend secured. When both $live_site and ssl enabled on the backend I get stuck in a loop when trying to login so I ended up removing the url from $live_site so I can login to administration securely.

I would like it to return to an http:\\ connection but I will have to make do with having a "To protect your security, please close this browser window" message after the order is complete. If there is another way to do this without using $live_site I would love to try it out.

Thanks.

SO, its JOOMLA pages only? Do you have all menu items set to "NO" ssl
