need to disable/remove Product Recommendation code

Dear all -

My VM installation has started sending Product Recommendation spam mail. A few days ago I posted my problem at http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=78774.0 ; so far no free suggestions have arrived that would make it possible for me to stop that spam.

I am willing to pay for a patch I can apply by overwriting one or two files with their doctored copies where this code has been commented out.

However, any alternative approach that can resolve the problem will be gladly accepted.
