Should I use a Joomla template or Virtuemart theme?
« on: September 27, 2010, 21:30:15 pm »
I'm interested in using a template such as this one: http://cms.template-help.com/virtuemart_30083/  but with the shopping cart confined to only one site section. For example, I'd like the template to have the same homepage, same 'Online Store' section, but static informational pages (i.e. no shopping cart integration) for areas like 'What's New', 'News', 'Contact Us', etc. However, as you can see, even the informational pages have the shopping cart nav, etc.

Is it possible to either, modify the virtuemart theme so there are some non-shopping cart (i.e. information/content pages)?

Or conversely, use another joomla template which has information/content pages, and integrate virtuemart into one section of the site?

1. This has nothing to do with dev/coding, you should post in General Questions or Theme/Layout Customization
2. I think you have confusion about Joomla templates / VirtueMart theme. VM theme only applies to styling of VM pages, you will always have one Joomla template active anyway.
3. The one you point is probably a Joomla template PLUS a VirtueMart theme bundled together (nice demo, btw ;-) ), so it should just fit your needs.
