Help, very confused with user registrations options.
« on: July 13, 2010, 02:28:21 am »
Hi,

I have tried everywhere on this forum to find the answer to my question, although I have founded a lot of useful items and have followed a lot of the problems I still have not managed to resolve my problem;

Like many:
"I have selected 'Optional registration,' my assumption of this is that visitors can visit the website and purchase with out registering but can also register"
How ever mine will not allow you to get past the log in screen...

I have tried the usually problems

1- my global settings are set right so I have YES and NO in the virtual configuration boxes.
2- I have set the option for 'optional log in'

What else do I need to do?

domain is www.303group.co.uk then click on 303 shop.

Please please help.

Not sure what you are trying to do? Did you add any product to the shop? Your catalogue is empty.

I am trying to enable it so my customer can view my products with out actually logging in or registering.

I have added one item to my product list and it shows when I log in.

optional registration has no relation to the catalogue display. Probably you haven't publish your products. You can see unpublished product if you login as an admin.

Ok, so even if these items were published it still does not solve the problem.

when I click on the shop it forces you to login rather than shows the category list like it did before.

I would like it so the click on the shop then this shows the categories

Check the Access Level of the menuitem 303Shop. It have to be public. Also make sure you have check stock off in VM Config or there is stock for the product items.

Yes the access level is set to Public and there is a 1000 units of stock available.

I think I need to clarify, the problem is not that the product is not there, because it is... Once you have logged in...(I can see this)

I want my customers to be able to see the products before they log in and have the option of logging in if they are a repeat customer.

Hmm.. you may try this last possibility: check the module permission for the shop module. The module list is available in Admin/List Modules. Make sure the permission is none.

Joseph Joseph Joseph, you are very good...

Straight in there, lock stock the lot, thank you very much. It was me that had clicked the stupid admin button, a while ago when I installed it, not realising what it was for. Now I understand...

Thank you very much.

Finally question about the same topic, at what point will it ask you to register or continue, if I have it selected as optional log in?
