"Add to cart" does not work in Safari 5
« on: June 11, 2010, 15:43:14 pm »
Hello

I noticed that the button "Add to cart" doesn't work in Safari 5
Can anyone help me?
What can I do to fix this bug?

Unfortunately, for me it's very important to fix this issue because I'm working to an private Apple Store and so the website must be "Apple friendly".

Thank you in advance.

Works OK on my testing sites for me using Safari 5.0 on Windows 7. I don't have one of those Mac things to test with, though.

I'm testing with Safari 5 (and most all other browsers) running on XP.

Add to cart works fine. However, if I do not go to the cart and leave any product page connected with VM, the sidebar mini-cart says it is empty. If I return to a VM product page, the contents of the mini-cart reappear.

Moving to a category page and the contents seem to vanish. Going to a product page, the contents of the mini-cart reappear.

Trying to check out and the contents disappear.

Seeing how FF, Chrome, IE 6 through 8 and a couple others work fine on my various PCs running a couple different versions of Windows, I am led to believe it is something that Safari is doing as regards cookies, page caching, or ?

I just loaded Safari last night, so this playing with that browser is just that, playing. I have an email off to a friend who is a Mac developer and have asked him to look into this issue. I'll report back.

Take care, Mike

by the way, the site isn't ready for prime-time, but Kelvyn, perhaps my site would demonstrate the issue versus yours. If so, then it may be that my templates and or set up is causing or enhancing the issue.

Okay, I found the answer here: http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=41145.0

Disable Ajax: Go to Admin>Configuration. Click on the Site tab. On the right side under Layout, click on the Configuration link. In there, you can turn on or off the Ajax features for adding to the cart.

I am working with Safari 5 on a mac. There are no problems with ajax add to cart using Safari as long as the plugin (Joomla 1.5.20) System - Mootools Upgrade is deactivated.

I did have Mootools Upgrade deactivated, but was still having this problem. I activated and then deactivated and that solved the problem for me and I am still able to keep Ajax enabled.
