First, install the Norwegian language pack for Joomla.

Next, you should upload the VirtueMart Norwegian language pack content in:

administrator/components/com_virtuemart/languages

Then you should navigate to your Joomla admin area->Extensions->Language Manager and pick Norwegian as the default language.

In this way VirtueMart will automatically recognize the new default language. It will use the corresponding language files.

This is already done. If you look closer on the picture some shows up as translated and some doesn't even though they are...

Hello,

this is a bit strange. I have checked this in the german language files and the changes i have made where visible on the site.

You must make absolutely sure that some special characters have to be escaped (like '123\'456'). Also check the codepage with which you have stored the file. Try "ISO-8859-1".

But this is just an idea. Normally, there should be a PHP-error when this is not correct...

Hello, well the only changed i made regarding "\" was like doesn\'t to Norwegian when i translated texts. But this shouldn't rly matter as it would be different in every language.

Also all translation files is ISO-8859-1.

Im out of ideas, somethings are translated and somethings ain't. Even though they should be and i've do double checked everything is correct. No missing ' at the start and ends of translations etc..

Thank you for sending me the file. I have just checked admin/norwegian.php

There are some errors in the file:

Between the backslash and the escaped character must not be a space (e.g. line 295: ...(\ '(catname) \' er...)
also in line 395, you didn't close the string. The "'" is missing.

Cheers, Thomas

But will those 2 errors create a big problem like this? i mean it's like 10 lines on the picture that doesn't show up translated.. Also it's not just the page on the screenshot i sent you, it's several more..

Hi,

these are the errors i saw when i checked the first language file. Maybe there are more - but in software development nearly every character is important and can produce different kinds of errors.

Be very careful when you edit files. It may be useful to use an IDE that parses the code you are writing and shows you PHP errors in the code.

Thanks zorkhh for helping.

First: Every file for joomla must be encoded in UTF-8. You can set this option in your editor or IDE (integrated development environment). There is a difference of the encoding of the file itself and the declaration of the encoding. You can have a xml file written for UTF-8 but declaring ISO-8859-1.

As IDE I would use eclipse. As fast and small editor I use plainedit

Second: I ask you to wait with the translation, because shukla ist just cleaning the files.

No it is not useless. Contact to me and we will find a solution.

Shukla wanted to finish it this week, but maybe it is more than he expected.

We can later make a diff and see what actually changed and adjust your file to it.
