if I click on the category 1 subcategory 1, the menu and I go to the root breadcom category 2 and category 2 is activated for the appropriate menu.

Do you also have this problem if you put of the SEF?
What kind of SEF tool are you using because I think that is more the problem then VM.

Yeah I thought so that it was sh404SEF  ;D always problem maker number 1.

The problem now is only on the left side so I guess you need to check the guy that made that module ;) Don't think it has anything to do with the VM component but more with the modules around it.

1. Turn off cookie check please. This probably will solve your problem.

2. If not, you can try Router.php. It's free, just search this forum for it.

You have an issue with Itemids.

Your VM component needs a master link. You didn't create it. So VM is leveraging a link that you have created to a VM component -> Category.

1. You should look at using my menu mod found here:
http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=64791.0

2. You can search the forum for many other posts on this issue I have made by advanced search for:
"Itemid" or
"Main link" or
"Master link" or

by user -> "Forrest"

It is ALL relevant. You might want to search for Breadcrumb fix as well. But that alone will not solve your problem. It has to do with Itemids.
