If I login the front-end of my site using my default admin Username, I can buy products with paypal, no problem.

However if I set up any new user account, I have problems at the checkout page.
There is no value next to "Payment Method:".

If I click "Confirm Order", I get this error message: "Error: Please select a Payment Method."

But there is no Payment method to select. And besides, I dont want a payment method to be selectable, I just want PayPal to be the only option.

I am suddenly having this same issue.  Joomla 1.5.15 and VM1.1.1.4.

When checking out all the CC types show up, but when you confirm it says ERROR: Please select payment type.

I have applied all the "fixes" related to Java scripts etc. found in other threads, but nothing has fixed this.  I have been running along just fine until a few days ago.

Any help would be AWESOME!

I too am experiencing the same thing, works for my admin account but not for a certain customers account.. they get the
Error: Please select a Payment Method.
if it was a javascript problem I would think that kit would not work on any account.
The greatest learning curve , is to be willing to learn..

Me to! I am on Joomla 1.5.15 and Virtuemart 1.1.4. I came through a J1.0 to 1.5 and VM migration path - not sure if that has anything to do with it.

jwb10600 - did the error just start happening without you changing anything on the site?

I am going quietly mad trying to solve this. My entire site is completely unusuable without a payment method!

Quick question: does it skip over the payment method when the user checks out (i.e. goes from step 2 to step 4)? I saw this on a client site recently and the problem as that the payment methods were set to a different user class than what this new user is set up as. For example, if the only payment method is configured as "Gold Level" but the user is a "default" user, then no payment method will be selectable and VM will just hop over that step, then complain on checkout confirmation that no payment was selected.

It sounds to me like this is the problem in Wises' case because when you log in as admin, it all works normally.

Anyhow, just something to double check,

It doesn't skip over the Payment method. It gets stuck demanding that a Payment method is chosen, yet doesn't list any for the user to choose.

The payment methods are configured as for "default" users.

I tried logging in the front end as admin in order to complete the order process. The same problem occurred - no Payment Methods are offered.

I am wondering whether there is something to do with the migration process that has caused a problem. I used mtwmigrator to bring the users in. Maybe there is a problem with the way the users have been brought into the new site as a result of the mtwmigrator process?

I think my problem was a result of migration. I noticed my vm_payment_method table only had 14 fields - whereas VM 1.1.4 has 17 fields in that table. So I patched in a table from a healthy installation of Joomla +VM 1.1.4. Hey presto! It works! Yay!

I am getting the same issue:

virtuemart Error: Please select a Payment Method

I test on a customers account and it fails and gives above error

If I run on my own account (both default - no admin) it works perfectly

Same Browser, Computer etc

Any direction would be awesome

Same issue.

The payment method select box just doesn't show up for any users so completing an order is impossible.

Running on J1.5 Vmart fresh component installation.

I have a radio button with "Paypal Pro" pre selected, but after posting it says "Please select a Payment Method!"

On RocketTheme Gantry template framework there is an option that disables Component's (if you only want to use modules.) Enabling Components to function fixed the issue of 'missing' pages. Obviously Virtuemart did not know where to show those pages.

The rest of you might suffer from similar 'Missing/MisDirected Component' page issues if you have custom modules/plugins installed.

I am experiencing the same issue and there seems to be no resolution in the forums......essentially, I choose a product and proceed to check out and it skips the payment method option and goes directly to the confirmation page and then the error shows "Error: Please select a Payment Method"

Has anyone fixed this?  If so please post your solution!

Make sure you set it for the correct user group.
For instance,
I had two default groups for some reason,
so it put it on the OTHER default and it worked.
