Remove a SINGLE CATAGORY or ITEM from virtuemart search results...

We have a list of items that are marked discontinued on our website. We are the manufacturer so we still need to have data on the items on the website so this is why we can't just remove them from the site.

We want them to NOT show up in the search results so how do I remove particular items from being searched from the virtue mart search box and kept off the page displaying in the search results??

I offered a dollar out of good gesture but this is not a commercial question.

Ok, I forgot to mention that I have a "discontinued" catagory on our virtuemart module. So I guess the easier way is to somehow not include the catagory in the search results?
