thanks for the reply freakinerick, man..i got to be clearer lolz sorry for not explaning properly.

ahh..well, i know how to add the categories and all that, u see on the images i've attached above 1.jpg, 2.jpg, and 3.jpg.  on the left side you can see i already added the category and the subcategories and it's showing and when i click the parent category, it goes to the proper category but then
* on the theme i'm using (the modify mynxx theme - 2.jpg) on the right side it won't show the child but only the title and the image i added for that category

* but on 1.jpg which is the original version of mynxx (demo version),  u can see on teh right side that it's showing not only the title but also the subchilds(that's what i want).

* on 3.jpg, that's what happened when i change to the default theme, at least it's showing the subchilds but not as stylist as in 1.jpg.

i know i messed up something..i just don't know what is it, i still have the original mynxx files as backups.

* the files i changed are
     * some files from the root/administrator/com_virtuemart
     * I reinstalled VM from 1.1.4 to 1.1.3
     * i'm using a fixed version of the mynxx theme which is currently in root/component/com_virtuemart/theme/

everything is working fine, except that part that it won't show the subchilds properly.

i'm very bad at explaining things so i hope this will be much more clearer and thanks for your attention.

btwn, i checked the link you gave me and unfortunately that's not what i need.

if you are on product information(editing product name)
you can see the category : press ctrl+(mouse) select the parent menuname
to view the image in parent menu window

there is no problem in your files
i think you just need some tweakin on it.
it works fine on my site.

No, i use rockettheme Mynxx template and vm_mynxx theme.
Should i have a specific module enabled for this?
Thank you

to have subcategries enabled in this awesome rocket theme template U need to edit the file:
browse_header_category.tpl.php

it is located into the VM theme in the templates/browse folder

Change all inside for this

Code: [Select]
<?php if( !defined'_VALID_MOS' ) && !defined'_JEXEC' ) ) die( 'Direct Access to '.basename(__FILE__).' is not allowed.' );
mm_showMyFileName(__FILE__);?>

<h3> <?php echo $browsepage_lbl?>
  <?php
if(
$this->get_cfg'showFeedIcon') && (VM_FEED_ENABLED == 1) ) { ?>

  <a href="index.php?option=<?php echo VM_COMPONENT_NAME ?>&amp;page=shop.feed&amp;category_id=<?php echo $category_id ?>" title="<?php echo $VM_LANG->_('VM_FEED_SUBSCRIBE_TOCATEGORY_TITLE'?>"> <img src="<?php echo VM_THEMEURL ?>/images/feed-icon-14x14.png" align="middle" alt="feed" border="0"/></a>
  <?php
?>

</h3>
<div style="text-align:left;"> <?php echo $navigation_childlist?> </div>
<?php if( trim(str_replace"<br />""" $desc)) != "" ) { ?>
<div class="category-desc-header"> <?php echo $desc?> </div>
<br class="clr" />
<?php

}
?>

I do not remember exactly the lines i did change, this is why i put all my file here, it is the call to the childlist navigation
Hope it works for U.
