Registration Emails and Password Reset
« on: August 25, 2009, 13:56:48 pm »
Hello Joomla Community!
So far I've been able to cope with upcoming problems by myself. But here's my issue:

Till recent time, users received notification about successfull registration with CORRECT user information (e.g login and password).

For about a couple of days users receive notification emails where the tex says:

...
User name: http://mysitename
Password: user's@email.adress
...

As an admin I receive messages where I see the Email aress instead of the user name field.

The other issue is failure to log in after the password has been reset. The site does not accept new initials.

To add, I'd like to mention that my server with the Site and the server with MySQL are separate. One hoster owns them, they are somehow linked, but physically they are not together. Two weeks ago the site was moved from one server to another having the MySQL not changed.

What may be the reason of such bugs and what should I check first?

This is not the Joomla community, it's Virtuemart. Are these problems related to Virtuemart registration or Joomla registration?

OMG, sorry ) My head is messed up )

I do not know how to find the difference, but the user database can be reached from Joomla settings, though the fields for filling in by users are set in VM settings.

Phrases from the emails in my language are also found in files in VM directories.
So, I guess this is VM registration.

one more thing:

After password reset the user's Email becomes the Login.
So users can log in using the Email adress.

May this be connected with MySQL mess?

allright, one problem solved:

now users receive correct emails. The problem was the language file with Text following ficnction PHPSHOP_USER_SEND_REGISTRATION_DETAILS.

I have once edited it, and as I am not familiar with php, I have deleted one %S. It turned out that after that all the fields moved up by one.

I edited it again, and now everything is fine, every parameter from 0:/maya/administrator/components/com_virtuemart/classes/ps_shopper.php

<PHPSHOP_USER_SEND_REGISTRATION_DETAILS> are retrieved.

In addition, Admin messages about new users have been fixed.

Now I will have to deal with password retrival system )

I'm having a similar problem with password retrieval system.
when my users try to retrieve a forotten password they receive the email with the token.
But when they input the token in the link given in the email, nothing happens...
I have no idea what may be causing this... can anyone help me?
Thanks for your time
