I've read nearly every related and unrelated forum post. I've searched Google.

Regardless of CC type I receive the above error. Originally I was receiving this message and was unable to get the cart to talk to Authnet. I have resolved the communication issue and the transactions are going through and showing in Authnet but I'm still receiving the same error message in the cart. It occurs on page 3 of 4 of the checkout and halts the process.

I checked phpinfo and OpenSSL appears to be active.

Attempted adding error code 4 per: http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=46010.msg176706#msg176706
Attempted stripping headers: http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=46010.msg153344#msg153344 and

I've read the basic configuration threads. The API User ID is being used (not the authnet login). The freshly obtained transaction key is installed correctly using JM password (not Authnet's). All users are assigned to "default" shopper group. Default group is only group currently active. I've even go so far as creating two new payment methods for the other two groups. No beans. I've attempted config in IE but the admin doesn't like IE8.

I've enabled debugging and can't seem to detect anything from my perspective that is suspect.

I simply can't get Authorize.net to work.

Due to the ubiquity of the issue and the lack of dev input I'm hoping that someone has some idea on how to resolve this.

Please help.

Thanks.
