"Add to Cart" function not working
« on: June 23, 2009, 17:25:12 pm »
Im currently working off of:

Joomla Version - 1.5.10
Virtuemart Version - 1.1.3
Template - RocketTheme Mynxx

The problem seems to be with my "Add to Cart" function. I click on it and nothing happens. No page change, no addition to the cart. Nothing. Theres is an error on the bottom of IE that says:

Webpage error details

User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; InfoPath.2)

Ive tried what they recommended over at the RT forum by putting "www" infront of my domain, but that doesnt work. Any ideas?

Make sure your browser doesn't block cookies. Is it from browse page or product detail page?

Well, Ive tried it with cookies accepted and its still a no go. Its really weird. Im working on a second site with the exact same specifications. And its not giving me any problems. Than I go to another computer and both sites work great, yet when I try it at another computer somewhere else, the first one doesnt work but the second site works fine. So the second site is working everywhere, but the first one gives me that error on certain computers. Any idea? perhaps a setting I have wrong within virtuemart?

I just had the same problem, which led me on a google search, which led me here. I changed the permissions on mootools.js from 644 to 755 and it fixed the problem. No idea whether this was a good idea or not, so can't vouch for how sane doing this is, but it works for me.

What happens if you switch to another Joomla! template?

Hmm, you know Rockettheme has told me it wasnt an issue on there end, but Im starting to get a feeling that it might very well be there template. Ill try to swicth templates to see if that solves the problem. It wouldnt be the first time one of there templates has given me trouble.

Pulled my hair out for a little while this morning on this same issue.  Things were working a few day ago, and no system changes were made--just a few product changes.

So, after a while it downed on me to try one last thing:
Make sure you are using the exact domain listed in the Admin/Configuration/Security settings.

I WAS testing with mydomain.com/  (saved 4 keystrokes)
BUT the installed site was for www.mydomain.com
The www, or lack of needs to be consistent throughout.

Once I went back to using the www version in testing, everything was working again.

I think there's a way to force www via .htaccess or something, so hopefully that will keep customers from having the same issue.  If anyone has a quick link to this code, bring it on.

Hope this helps someone.  Good Luck.

thanks mindcue! worked for me! fyi I'm not using rockettheme so it's probably not it, just the domain consistency.
