The answer has been posted many times on this forum.

You need to increase upload_max_filesize in your server php.ini as it is probably still set at the 2Mb default value.

If you are anable to edit this file then there are alternative installation methods. See the VirtueMart wiki:

I have Joomla 1.5.9
PHP Version 5.2.8
max_execution_time 120
post_max_size 12M
upload_max_filesize 12M

And still, the error "There was an error uploading this file to the server." persists only with the installation of Virtuemart.  I have installed Virtuemart's earlier releases on Joomla 1.5.3 without issue.  I'm obviously missing something here.

Hello:
Update.  After trying all I could find in this forum as far as checking php settings, I decided to give alternate installation methods a try.  I selected the remote installer component method as decribed at http://virtuemart.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=322&Itemid=152  It could not have been easier.  Thank you very much for the excellent documentation.  If you are running into install problems and the other posts have not worked for you, try the remote installer component and within 2 minutes, you should be on your way.  Thanks again.
