Product scroller not showing up

Hi, I am using Virtuemart version VirtueMart 1.1.3 stable  and joomla version Joomla! 1.0.15 Stable .

I have not seen any problems with the installation until I tried to turn on the product scroller.  This will not scroll my images. I can see the title, it seems to show up properly in the location I have set, but no products scroll.  I have tried displaying 'featured only' on and off.  I can turn on other features such as featured product with no problem, the images show up, but I get nothing from the product scroller module.  I have tried searching for an answer but do not see any problems like this...  it will not show up at all, anywhere! 

Any suggestions you can offer are greatly appreciated.

UPDATE:I finally figured it out. I had put a few sample items in the products list to get the features working but I failed to add them to a category!  Once I moved the items into the category the product scroller started working just fine.
