I have this problem in the frontend - no idea if i have it in the back end and don't care as use firefox for admin.

I do have to have an IE compatible frontend for obvious reasons.

The operation aborted problem does seem to be random.  Sometimes it happens sometimes it is fine.  No particular triggers that I can see.

Any pointers?

I may have fixed my frontend operation aborted problem.  Having done some digging as to why it happens, I noticed that I had my google analytics module published in an xhtml styled position.

I've changed the style to none and no longer seem to be getting the problem.  I have to hammer it to be convinced it is a proper fix but it might be something worth looking at for those of you who have the same problem.

Please try the attach fix for Internet Explorer (IE7) Operation Aborted issue.

First Unzip than replace the files
Root/administrator/components/com_virtuemart/classes/htmlTools.class.php
Root/components/com_virtuemart/js/wz_tooltip.js

Make sure you clear browser cache.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Peter, I have followed all your steps, but its only work at the backend, and not at the frondend..

heres how i did:
- before i follow your steps, i uninstall all virtuemart's component, modules, and plugin.. restart my computer.
- install again component (plus install sample data), modules (mod_virtumart 1.1.3 + other additional modules; and then enable all modules), 2 plugin (then enable them)
- restart my computer.
- control panel >> internet option >> delete cookies, deleted files, clear history ->(clear browser cache). plus all private data at other browser (firefox, opera and safari).
- download your link : htmltools.class.zip and wz_tooltip.zip
- unzip (extract all) htmltool.class.zip and wz_tooltip.zip

- i copy and paste (replace) through 'windows explorer'
at the file of 'wz_tooltip.zip' (38 kb) i copy (CTRL+C)
and then paste (CTRL+V) it at: (root)www/component/com_virtuemat/js/wz_tooltip.js.

at the file of 'htmltool.class.zip >> CTRL+C
then CTRL+V at: root/administrator/componet/com_virtuemart/classes/htmltools.class.php

- try it, but only work at the backend. Not at the frondend.
- restart computer
- try again, its same...  ;D

As mentioned the patch fixes the back-end issue, I have never encounter 'Operation Aborted' message in front-end, if I don't see it I can't fix it.

It could be a conflict between VM and another extension/template, if you haven't yet, try the following suggestion http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=51089.msg165702#msg165702

my problem appears when i click the image of product in order to see "product's full image".

if at the back end, i input product information:
SKU  :
Name :
URL  :  http://www.xxx.com
in the frontend, there is no problem, and i will be sent to www.xxx.com

if at the backend i input product image (I dont fill URL):
Full image: ..... (browse)
Image action: *auto create thumbnail [/color}
the problem will appears on the frontend when i click the product's image...

internet explorer cannot open the internet site

Just to let other users know that loading these files have a slight effect on the some of the CSS.
The affected pages for me was my browse pages.

After more testing I still occasionally have the same problem in the frontend. Have not been able to narrow down to when or what actually trigger it. So far is seems to happen randomly.
EDIT:
I think I have narrowed it down to the javascript for warrping the thumbnail image which is triggering the slimbox effect. After i removed the javascript in my browse pages it seems to work OK

Sorry to say that the problem is still there, even on VirtueMart (.net) www.virtuemart.net page but works like a charm on (.com) www.virtuemart.com without any problems. Maybe the answer is there between the two different VirtueMart sites .net and .com

To set the recorded straight I have tried on two different sites/webhotels. it’s not working with IE for me on any site and I get Operation aborted

And it’s confusing with all the different topics about the same thing with some of them says we got the solution and it’s working. And you still get the answers from others users that it’s not working for them.

Most users and costumers use IE and we don’t want to lose them (applies to everybody). I’m in the process of opening a Joomla/VirtueMart shop, but if the users getting Operation aborted they are gone even before they have started.

You are all doing a great job here with VirtueMart Open Source for all how would like to do it there self and without the big wallet. As soon as I get a shop up and running and getting earnings, I will contribute direct.

Joomla 1.5.9
VirtueMart 1.1.3
