Virtuemart crash site whit Moomenu
« on: September 04, 2008, 10:32:56 am »
Hi!

I'm using themes from Rockettheme and all crashes menu together with Virtuemart 1.1.2. I have received support from Rockethem but we have concluded that the error is due to a java script conflict. Probably between mootools in themet and Virtuemart.

If I use Splitmenu instead of Moomenu crashes only bookstore and not the home page.

Firebuge error:
window.addEvent is not a function
[Break on this error] window.addEvent("domready",function(){va...ass="date-number">'+E+"</span> "+F);}});
rokutils.js (line 16)
Class is not defined
[Break on this error] eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,r){e=function(c)...d|splice|Element|true'.split('|'),0,{}))
rokmoomenu.js (line 16)
Element.extend is not a function
[Break on this error] eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,r){e=function(c)...opWidth|window|return'.split('|'),0,{}))
mootools...iframe.js (line 1)
window.addEvent is not a function
[Break on this error] window.addEvent('domready', function() {
index.ph...temid=345 (line 26)

No one who has a clue? ???

I assume that there are many who use the templats from Rocketthem and who encountered the same problem. Personally, I have sought here in the forum without finding any help.
Thanks in advance!

If you cannot turn off Moo in the RocketTheme template then you can turn off AJAX/lighbox in VirtueMart configuration.

Use Shape5 or TemplatePlazza templates. They do templates designed to work with VirtueMart.

Problem is that I want to use the ajax-based features of VM without loading the mootools from inside the template. My joomla template already loads the mootools, so when VM loads it too it conflicts, resulting in breaking functionality of all my mootools-based modules in my site.

For example, you can see here: http://e-bath.net/new (the grey module with the text inside does not scroll as it should, coz of vm shop index)
and here the same module working: http://e-bath.net/new/index.php/index.php/Επικοινωνία/E-Bath.net.html

Hero with the foul smile ... suggesting to fork out for new templates is NOT the way to go about it ... unless u work for plazza & such ... got the point?

disabling functionality that is essential to someone is NOT a valid solution either.

Virtuemart should use some common sense and allow the end user to be able to choose to load the mootools framework through virtuemart or the joomla template as to avoid conflicts.

It doesn't take a 'brain surgery' and is easy as 'pie'.

sort your time wasting messy code out

ffs,

Nothing wrong with the code, but there is with your reply.

Personal insults will not be tolerated.

The problem with many of these modules templates etc, is that they are the only app that is loading mootools, they then reload, either with a cutdown version or the same version and destroy any already initialised mootools objects.

It also means that the library is often loaded more times then it's needed

that' why the option to choose to load the mootools that comes with vm or not should be available in vm.
but you 'd rather argue instead of implementing it.
i fully understand the 'insult' thing ...
do you understand the time wasted & the frustration that the luck of such a simple solution causes to end users?
that's one of the worst insults in my view, which i don't expect or force anyone to share.
cheers.

ps: if you 'd like to help could you please for the love of God tell me in which file the vm makes the call to load mootools? i've been looking all night and haven't managed to find it & i understand i'm sounding really tired & grouchy now. My apologies.

I understand the frustration, image what I've read after replying to over 2000 posts!

What people don't grasp is that the mootools, AJAX and lightbox are part of the theme.

Although they are still referenced in the core files they are instigated by the theme. Template producers could, after all, produce a template that incorporates a theme for VM that compliments their templates.

So to turn off mootools. Look in theme.php

Many Thanks Marc!
You are my hero! I got 2-3 JS error in IE and FF and i didn't found similar. But i found this post and one time i found the key for my problem. I checked the generated page source and the mootols was loaded 4 times! After I cleaned up the index.php all problem gone away.
It was a hard lesson but next time i won't burn my hands with this.:)
