Error: Internal Error processing the Request to UPS.com

I'm using the latest version of virtuemart with joomla 1.5. I have been unable to get the ups module to work properly. Whenever the checkout process attempts to calculate shipping I receive the following error.

Error: connect() timed out!
Error: Internal Error processing the Request to UPS.com

I would be grateful for any help. I do have a ups access code.

I'm also very interested in finding the answer to this solution.  I have my access key and all of the other information, but I'm getting the exact same error.

Error: name lookup timed out
Error: Internal Error processing the Request to UPS.com

Hope someone can help.
