IE7 & 8 not showing all products in category
« on: August 07, 2009, 08:04:48 am »
My website works fine in Fire Fox.  I know that always seems to be a constant with joomla and virtuemart.  I am using Joomla 1.5.8 and virtuemart 1.1.3.  I just upgraded from IE7 to IE8 with no luck. I used Artisteer to create the main joomla/virtuemart template.  Is the css missing some code for IE?

See here: http://northwestwigglers.com/index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=13&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=68

There should be 4 products showing on that page as you can see where it says "Results 1-4"  but only 3 show up.  I get the same result on some other pages, some work fine ???.
I have all categories set to products per row: 2 or 3
browse_6
flypage_ask.tpl

On this page: http://northwestwigglers.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=7&Itemid=68

when I switch from products per row 2 to 3 it only shows 3 products total insteat of 6. :-\

I also can't get the registration form to show up correctly.
Missing: Confirm Password, Last Name,Title,Address 2,State,Zip,Mobile Phone.

Forgive me if I missed a solution.  I have been searching for a while now.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've a site that looks great in all the other main browsers - half of it doesn't show up in IE8.
joomla 2.5.4 / VM 2.0.2

Does anyone else have this issue?  I still haven't found a solution.
I am really have problems with the checkout billing form not showing up correctly.  I know I am losing sales.  Some customers do call to let me know they can't checkout but I don't know that everyone will do that.

Thanks

SWD your message was not noticed before because you have posted in the VirtueMart 1.0 section of the board. I have moved this to the right section.

OK you have a css issue - looks like it is basically related to the Joomla! template which has some IE css hacks - and also an IE7 stylesheet. You are also using the meta "fix" to force IE8 to display the site using its IE7 engine, so it is impossible to do a proper check with IE8.

I think it is something to do with floats, as when using the IE8 Developer console (hit F12 in IE8) I found that removing float:left from VM's formLabel class allows the extra registration fields to appear. Maybe one of the forced IE styles is interfering there.

I saw no issues with product displays.

Thank you for your help.

I removed the float: left from the formLabel in theme.css in virtuemart.  Then I replaced text-align:right; to text-align:left; to line the lables up with the fields.

This is such a relief to finally have a fix.  Thank you again.

I think i have solved the Problem.
Its very simple:
1. modify your template.css here:
.art-PostContent
comment out:
/*letter-spacing: 1px;*/

... for me,it work fine....

I am having an issue with the display of products in IE6 / IE8.

In my case, it appears that every 2nd product is not being displayed. 2 examples are listed below.
You will see at the bottom of the screen it says x of x listed but there is only half of that visible.

I created the templates using Artisteer.

A few places suggest that it is an issue with css float while others suggest emulation is the issue. At this stage, I haven't been able to figure it out.

I have tried altering the emulation
Code: [Select]
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" /> and if tried to set the emulation using
Code: [Select]
<!--[if IE 6]><meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=IE6" /><![endif]-->Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

PS ... I apologise as I posted this in another area earlier ... perhaps admin could merge it to here?

I am having this type of issues, expect that none of my client's products are showing.

I changed the emulation and removed the float but nothing works.  Can some please help if you know of a solution.

I've had a similar problem which was fixed by removing
"<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" />"
from index.php in your default template directory

Hope this helps someone
