Credit Card not accepted on Paypal *weird*
« on: June 25, 2008, 18:32:12 pm »

I've having a strange problem with Paypal, processing credit cards. My Paypal account is "Verified" (so sending and receiving payments should not be a problem")

However, after typing in my credit card details (and other credit cards from my friends who have tried to purchase from my site), i always get the following error message"
"The credit card you entered cannot be used for this payment. Please enter a different credit card number."   ???

This problem seems to ONLY appear from transactions amounting to more than USD50. I've had NO problems for smaller transactions less than USD50. So, why do i get this error message?

addtional details..
Joomla version: 1.0.15
VirtueMart version: 1.1.0 RC2

Can anyone help me please? its giving me a lot of headaches and I'm already losing sales from overseas customers!

That is a Paypal message and has nothing to do with VM. It means the credit card you (or they) are trying to use is already connected to a Paypal account and they won't let you use it as a standalone card—you have to log into Paypal. It works the same way if you're trying to use your Paypal Debit card on someone else's site who uses Paypal. Can't do it. Have to log into Paypal.

Thanks for the advice bulabula.

I always thought you can use your credit/debit card no matter what, even if its already registered with an existing Paypal account.

Never realized that once you have registered the credit/debit card with Paypal, you have no choice but to 'always' login and pay via Paypal.
