I applied the fix as explained above. This works fine for the shopping cart checkout; re-directs to HTTPS with no warnings.

But the other two areas I have configured for secure access (administration and account maintenance) do not re-direct to HTTPS.

Anyone else having this issue?

Hi,

HTTPS works even with SEF URLs without this hack.
Tested versions: J!1.5.3 VM 1.1 Revision 1422 and sh404SEF 1.0.5 build 124

Please read my signature and go see known issues in siliana forum that I wrote there, and reply to the topic Known issues VM 1.1 plugin for sh404SEF 1.0.5

Ciao

Thanks korb, I will check it out. I am not even trying to do any SEF at this point; just trying to get ssh working "correctly" (at least as I expect it should).

As I said, it switches over to https fine in the shopping cart and even switches back to http when you leave the cart. The problem is that the other areas I have defined as "secure" (account and admin) do not redirect to https.

I'm not yet sure of the ramifications but in index.php the following line s(SSL Check) were commented out.  Now the site moves smoothly from https to http:

// SSL check - $http_host returns <live site url>:<port number if it is 443>
//$http_host = explode(':', $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] );
//if( (!empty( $_SERVER['HTTPS'] ) && strtolower( $_SERVER['HTTPS'] ) != 'off' || isset( $http_host[1] ) && $http_host[1] == 443) && substr( $mosConfig_live_site, 0, 8 ) != 'https://' ) {
//   $mosConfig_live_site = 'https://'.substr( $mosConfig_live_site, 7 );
//}

Using:

Joomla! 1.0.15 Stable
VirtueMart 1.0.15
JoomSEF
