AJAX Notice Time Limit
« on: May 19, 2008, 18:02:17 pm »
Does anyone know how to change how long the AJAX "added to cart" notice stays on the screen?

Cheers.

To set the time go to components/com_virtuemart/themes/default/theme.js

Now look for this line
Code: [Select]
setTimeout( 'document.boxB.close()', 3000 );
The 3000 is the time so just increase it to whatever you like.

any idea what unit of time that represents?

3000 is 3 seconds so 6000 would be 6 seconds - 9000 9 seconds etc...

In the ebundle - if you are using the JA Larix template the template.js file in use is in the Larix folder and not in the default folder. Not sure why there is a timed disappearance of the box - it goes when clicked and you want the user to click the box.
3 seconds is miles to brief - but the time you get to the box it is gone.

Hi.

This is not working for me.  Has the location of this file changed in recent updates?  I can find the file, but changing has no impact on the duration of the box.

I can even delete the entire file and nothing changes on my site.

Thanks.

Have you changed the file in the correct VM theme?

I have spent hours trying to get this to work.

Basically, the AJAX only adds products to the mini cart 8/10 times - the notification only stays up for 3s, when I have changed the code for 30s.  In the end turned it off.   Which means customer now have to go to the cart each time.  But, when they click the continue shopping - all items are removed from the cart, again this only happens 8/10 times.  ???
