cannot switch from http: to https:
« on: June 12, 2009, 09:57:43 am »
Dear all -

Judging by the backlog of unanswered queries, this may take a while to get a reply - but I am willing to try as there is nothing else I can do about it. :(

I have a Joomla 1.0.15/VM1.0.X installation, it's been working fine for over 2 years now. We decided to add https to the cart, bought a dedicated IP, bought an SSL certificate, installed it - and it looks like it's not going to work. The moment I replace http: with https: in the VM configuration, and test the cart, on checkout I get the following error:
-----------------------------

This webpage is not available.

The webpage at https://[siteURL.com]/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=checkout.index&martID=NWM1M2E3MGQwZTk1MWUyYTcyMDNmM2E1MGRhODQ2ODN8OGE2NzE4MjgzNTFmOTdhMWRkZjhkNWYxZmI4NjY3NzM=&Itemid=26 might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
==============================

In http mode, everything works beautifully.

Is this a www/non-www URL issue? Has anyone encountered it and how can it be fixed?

Thanx in advance -

Lev

I would try removing the www. and see if that changes. As SSL are usually specific ie http://www.yourdomain.com is different than http://yourdomain.com

Anyway I hope that helps

Tried both with and without www - same result. :(

Any takers? Is this the problem of SSL, Joomla or VM?

TIA -

I am guessing by looking at your post that you are not using SEF urls. Not sure if that would effect, but maybe it will help others who read your post.
Not sure what this could be. I have similar issue but very different at the same time. Mine will not redirect correctly, but works perfectly. I hope we can start getting this forum to post replies =)
