to fix the warning "Warning: mkdir() [function.mkdir]: Permission denied in /is/htdocs/wp1107590_MXY72NFXON/www/components/com_sef/sef.cache.php on line 69"
just set the file attributes of /com_sef/ to 777.

@korb: this is a new installation of joomla (Joomla_1.5.3_eCommerce_Edition_VM_1.1.0.tar.gz). ive experience with joomla about 2 years.
so its a clean installation with own database. i could give you a login to see it with your own eyes. pm?

cause after the installation i got the warning at the main site:

Warning: mkdir() [function.mkdir]: Permission denied in /is/htdocs/wp1107590_MXY72NFXON/www/components/com_sef/sef.cache.php on line 69

can you help me to fix the problem?
"after the installation with your instruction are all urls search friendly but all of them give now a 404 object not found (direct links to products or articles of joomla, too. just everything. but the links of virtuamart are search friendly now.. but doesnt work (404)). ive refreshed it serveral times."

ive uninstalled artio and installed it step by step with your manual (http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=40141.0)
and this is a new installatio0n of joomla

you are getting 404 output because of this setting
Append non-SEF variables to URL       oNo   oYes.
You must set to "NO". So links will work even if they are not SEF URLs.

man, I think you don't understand a thing:
After modifying Artio Configuration, and get out of there, you must press ok: purge all created URLs, then when viewing the page, you must first go to frontpage, not any page like product flypage or another. URLs are RE-generated when you refresh the frontpage, otherwise you'll get 404 on every single link.
Think about that.

i'm at the frontpage cause its the only page which is working. i refresh everything (strgh + f5) and when i go to any page like product flypage, category or any joomla site i'll get a 404

this means your host doesn't support handling .htaccess, This is my final conclusion. Maybe it suports but you need to configure .htaccess with assistance from your hosting provider.
Even if the URLs are well generated or not, navigation should work, atleast work perfect for me, even with or not the VirtueMart plugin.

Found a major headache. It might just be my servers configeration but when attempting to add a file to more images it adds something from the root instead. That could be configuration.php which it deleted. Be aware that this is the case and add file directives manually through CSV or phpmyadmin.

this plugin still need fixes, it still doesn't handle pagination, or checkout steps, or search.
We need a coder to do that.
