Latest Product Add to Cart button not working

Description:
After enabling and displaying latest products on front page, clicking the Add to Cart button does nothing and stays on home page.

Server environment:
Apache version   2.2.8 (Unix)
PHP version   5.2.5
MySQL version   5.0.45-community-
log
Architecture   x86_64
Operating system   Linux

Software versions:
Joomla 1.5.3
Virtuemart 1.1

Software condition:
SEO disabled, fresh install. Template installation only.

I was having the same problem.

But I had added some javascript calls to the <head> tag of my template for a home page rollover to work and that was causing the issue. Once I commented out the javascript calls the Add To Cart Button started to work!

ADD TO CART BUTTON not working on IE or OPERA?
Well the only solution I could find was:

1.GO TO ADMIN > CONFIGURATION > SITE
2.On the Layout part, click on Configuration
3.Next you get the PARAMETERS page, go down where it says Use Ajax to add, update or delete products from the cart?
4.Set this option to NO

The problem seems to be AJAX causing an issue making it not work well on INTERNET EXPLORER AND OPERA (only 2 browsers I tested)

After I disabled this option, the problem of ADD TO CART BUTTON was solved.
