JSCook Menu in IE7

I have set up my test site to use the JSCookMenu and it works fine in Firefox but when I go to IE I am having problems.

In IE7 them main menu works but when you go to a submenu item it only shows the top half of the top menu item.  If there is a third menu level you can just see it's top half also.

I have not come across this before and can't find anything on it.

While we are at it,  why is VM 1.1 using version 1.43 of JSCookMenu while the latest version is up to 2.0.3
